TMJ & Facial Pain
TMJ & TMD Treatment
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jaw bone to your skull and can be subject to pain.
Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) is a disorder where there is pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles, that control jaw movement.
The exact cause of this pain is often difficult to determine. Your pain may be due to a combination of factors, such as genetics, arthritis or injury to the jaw or chewing muscles.
Some people who have jaw pain also tend to clench or grind their teeth. In most cases, the pain and discomfort associated with TMJ disorders is originating from facial and masticatory muscles, which can be relieved with laser therapy, Botox® injection into the inflamed muscle, a TMJ mouth appliance or a combination of any of these strategies.
